I worked as an artist with St Joseph’s Hospice, running art workshops for patients attending the day care centre in 2010.
As part of this work, I recorded one of the patients talking about her experiences. This narrative was printed onto fine Japanese paper and shown at the Nunnery gallery in 2010.
I became interested in the fragments of her story as being very powerful in their own right. This lead to a series of screenprints showing fragments of text, reflecting bodily fragility in the materials of the paper. Her story also became the basis for the film, shown here, made as a collaboration with the sound artist, Hutch Demouilpied in 2011.
I filmed an installation made in my studio from wire, copper and glass wax to create the visuals. Several stills were printed from the film and these are also shown here.
